
EMC's New Administrator
Evergreen Medical Center welcomes Bob Humphrey, a Birmingham native, as our new administrator. Mr. Humphrey comes to Conecuh County from Valley, where he worked for Lanier Health Services for 15 years.
“His career has provided him extensive experience in managing and administering health services organizations,” EMC Marketing Director Carol Reed said. “He possesses strong operational and public relations skills with the ability to work within complex organizations.”
Mr. Humphrey has also gained management experience from working in administration at Riverview Medical Center in Gadsden, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark, Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, and Northeast Alabama Medical Center in Anniston.
Mr. Humphrey is an Auburn graduate and attended graduate school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He graduated from UAB in 1978 with a Master’s degree in hospital administration after a one-year fellowship at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.
Mr. Humphrey is married to the former Linda Pitts of Abbeville, and they have two children, Kyle and Claire.
Marketing
The Marketing Department is responsible for ensuring patient
satisfaction; developing and executing marketing plans designed
to increase awareness and utilization of hospital services;
and facilitating education and communication with physicians’ offices. The department consists of the Director and the Customer
Service Representative, who is a critical aspect of quality
patient care. The representative assists patients in exercising
their rights and ensures their satisfaction with services
by making rounds twice daily and having constant contact with
patients, their family or visitors. This new position here
at the medical center will help guarantee patient satisfaction.
The Marketing Department also develops and coordinates community
programs including educational luncheons, health fairs and
programs at our local schools. For more information about

Materials Management
The primary role of Materiel’s Management is to contribute
to high quality of patient care at Evergreen Medical Center
by meeting the supply and service requirements of our patients
and staff. In order to ensure the supply chain functions and
responsibilities are optimally organized, the Materiel’s
Management staff of Evergreen Medical Center will continue
to implement opportunities such as Group Purchasing Organizations,
common service providers, and suppliers/distributors that
will provide further reductions in cost and promote operational
efficiencies.
Product selection and practices are made based upon high quality
patient care, standardization and uniformity. Our patients
are important to us and our actions should be dictated with
their needs in mind.
Business Office
The Business Office provides customer service to our patients.
With over 20 years of experience, we believe that patient
care does not stop after the patient leaves our facility.
We realize that health care bills are unexpected and can create

The Business Office also consists of Patient Registration,
Data Processing, Payroll and Accounts Payable.
Facilities Management
The operation of the Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry
functions of the medical center is outsourced to Aramark ServiceMaster
to provide management for daily cleaning of patient rooms
and facilities, maintain clean linen for inpatient and out
patient services, as well as management of the maintenance
function of the facility. Hospital staff assigned to the department
is trained in proper techniques, chemical and equipment usage,
safety practices, etc. Aramark ServiceMaster also provides
all housekeeping equipment and chemicals and laundry chemicals
all of which are developed for use in hospitals.
Preventative maintenance is performed on a scheduled basis
using the computerized ISIS system developed by Aramark ServiceMaster.
There is also a work order system which is based on the ISIS
program to provide tracking of work performed by the maintenance
staff.
The maintenance of medical equipment is outsourced to Anatech,
Inc. and the contract is managed by the Facilities Management
Department.
The vision/scope of the Facilities Management Department is
to provide a safe, clean, orderly environment for the health
and welfare of our guests and staff.
Health Information
The Health Information Department of Evergreen Medical Center
is responsible for overseeing the timely processing, completeness
and the retrieval of all patient medical records. Health Information
Services include provision of an accurate patient record,
with emphasis on the following:

| • Transcription of dictation for the medical
record |
| • Correspondence |
| • Record retrieval, filing and storage |

known or contained in the patient's medical record.
