Dear Fellow Business Leader:
Do you know someone who has been affected by breast cancer? Chances are you do. As your local healthcare provider, we recognize the importance of sharing preventive information and creating awareness in our community about this preventable disease.
The American Cancer Society estimates that 3,540 women in Alabama will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, with a total of 210,820 women in the United States being affected. Of these women, those who have annual screenings will have a much-improved chance for survival. The American Cancer Society also recommends that women over 40 have a mammogram and a clinical breast exam by their physician every year. Women in Conecuh County have the advantage of having mammography services available at Evergreen Medical Center with no travel time and expense, and with professional, personalized service.
Evergreen Medical Center and the American Cancer Society are joining forces to increase awareness during the month of October, designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are organizing a 1-Mile Awareness Walk & Brunch slated for Saturday, October 20. Watch for more details in the news and on our website at www.evergreenmedical.org!
