EMC Opening New Imaging Center

Evergreen Medical Center is in the process of breaking ground and tearing down walls to construct a one stop source for all your imaging needs. The 6000+ square foot imaging center will provide radiology, mammography, CT scans, bone density scans, and ultrasound in one convenient location. The center will also be tied to the hospital by an enclosed corridor allowing convenient access to the ER, inpatient and outpatient services.

“We are excited to begin improvements to our facility which will enhance our ability to provide quality care to our patients, community, and surrounding areas,” states Angie Hendrix, CNO at Evergreen Medical Center.

The new imaging center is part of a multi-million dollar expansion and modernization project that will be phased in over the next 3 years. “This is an ambitious project that will revolutionize the way EMC provides healthcare services to this area,” states Mike Addison with Russell Construction of Alabama.

Paul Davis of Paul Carpenter Davis Architecture, P.C added, “EMC is already providing stellar service. This project and the subsequent phases will allow EMC to set the standard for healthcare excellence in the area.”

Bob Humphrey, administrator at EMC, says this is a project that was essential for EMC to remain a top competitor in the regional healthcare market. He also stated, “By expanding the current facility and offering outpatient services in one convenient location for patients, Evergreen Medical Center confirms its dedication to continuously pursuing excellent medical care.”

Patients will experience easy access to scheduling, registering and testing in an area separate from the ER and potentially sick patients.

Dr. William Farmer, Chief of Staff, is encouraged by the new renovation and what it means to patients. He affirms, “The practice of medicine is becoming increasingly dependent on diagnostic imaging and this will enhance our ability to provide first rate service to our patients.”

The new imaging center will be located to the left and rear of the hospital in the newly refurbished building which once housed The Pines, a mental rehabilitation facility owned and managed by EMC. The new imaging center is scheduled to be completed mid-summer of 2009.
